After a 10-year successful and thrilling performance in the popular Tv Show Grey’s Anatomy, fan favorite – Sara Ramirez – known as Dr. Callie Torres, has also exited the Shondaland medical drama and will not be returning for season 13.
“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC but for now I’m taking some welcome time off, Shonda’s been so incredible to work for and we will definitely continue our conversations! In fourth place on our list is Jennifer Aniston with an estimated earning of $20 million. Making a succesful transition from TV show – Friends to movies, Jennifer Aniston’s most recent hit was “Horrible Bosses” which grossed $11.5 million globally.

million, Melissa McCarthy is the only other actress to bank over $20 million in a scoring period. The Mike and Molly TVstar has proven her ability to also carry movies solo– Spy and Tammy grossed a combined $335 million worldwide–and now she’s turning to fashion, launching an all-sizes clothing line.

With over 200 movies to her name, Ini Edo is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Nollywood. Her networth is around 60 million naira. She owns over six buildings and is the United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy, thanks to her philanthropic endeavours.
2) Genevieve Nnaji – 2 million naira per script
The Queen of Nollywood, Genevieve Nnaji a fashion designer, model and singer, is the most successful Nollywood actress internationally, and best paid in Nigeria. With an estimated net worth of around 64 million naira, she has over 80 movies to her name and earned a reported $25,000 in the transnational film“Ijé”produced by Paula Moreno and Chineze Anyaene. . When we think Nollywood movies we think of great actors like Kenneth Okonkwo, Saint Obi, Eucharia Anunobi, Hilda Dokubo, to mention a few. These were the pioneers of Nollywood movies!
Nollywood movies have always been succesful even from the early beginning because they tell African and realistic stories, ones that every African could relate to and even with it’s evolution over the years, the goal still remains the same: To tell African stories.
According to research, 200 movies are produced every month, that is 6 movies daily! But in the midst of all these movie releases, there are a few Nigerian movies that have left foot prints in the sands of time and like I love to say, in my opinion, these are the 5 classic movies that really made an impression.
1. LIVING IN BONDAGE
One of the oldest and very popular movie to be produced by Nollywood, this movie gained so much attention it could be said it was the pioneer of Nollywood movies. In the movie, Andy Okeke (Kenneth Okonkwo) killed his wife and used her for rituals to become wealthy and most certainly, this came with repercussions leading to his becoming mad. I really don’t know why but the scene that made a lasting impression on me was the house party scene where champagne was poured on a lady’s head. I remember thinking to myself “Her fine hair is ruined!” I enjoyed this movie so much.
2.KARASHIKA
Directed by Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi, starring Sandra Achums, Becky Okorie, Obi Madurugwu etc. The movie shows how Satan recruits new followers for his kingdom of darkness by sending out Karishika, to the world of the living. There she misguides and seduces a number of people, who all fall prey to her because of their own shortcomings. All but the last fall for the temptation of either the fulfilment of their desperate wishes, or money, or sex.
I remember chanting ‘Karashika Karashika queen of demons, Lucifer Lucifer prince of darkness’ with so much gusto my mum would look at me and go “if I hear that demonic chant from your mouth again ehn!!!” Lol! The movie really made an impression!
3. CHRIST IN ME 
Starring Tony Umez, Pascaline Edwards, Ngozi Ezeonu, and few more, this movie is about a newly married woman whose married relationship was in danger because her own best friend starts showing interest in her husband. The story theme circled around Fate. This story made so much impression that till date I still remember the track song word for word.
4. HOUR OF GRACE
Cast : Hilda Dokubo, Liz Benson, Justice Esiri. The story is about Amadi (played by Justus Esiri) and Azuka (played by Hilda Dokubo),a couple who have been married for over 10 years but are yet to have a child of their own. Azuka turns into pleading her best friend Helen (played by Liz Benson) to be a second wife for her husband so that her husband would finally get the chance to become a father. But little did Azuka know she was making the biggest mistake of her life by trusting her best friend and introducing her into her marital home.
I remember watching this movie and hating Liz Benson so much that for days I didn’t watch any movie she was in! Lol…yea for ‘days’, I mean I would have held out more but she was almost in every movie and how long can a girl say ‘no’ to nollywood film then huh?
5. WORLD APART
Ok, this was and is, still my best Nollywood classics! This was the movie that made me fall in love with Ini-Edo. Infact, it was the movie that made me even notice her. Her innocence, naivety, and uncontrollable curiosity which finally landed her in the arms of a prince, makes this movie my best.
Starring Ini Edo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Liz Benson, and Hilda Dokubo to name a few, this movie is about a humble but wealthy and well respected King called Promise (played by Kenneth Okonkwo) who falls in love with Uli, a poor girl from the village, (played by Ini Edo) who is the complete opposite and how despite all the obstacles they ended up together.
These are my top classics when it comes to Nollywood movies and I will definitely pay to watch them again. You can add yours to the comment box!

In the world of movies, some stories are sometimes too large or grand to fit into the length of an average movie. Hence we get sequels or part 2s. When it ends at part 3 then we have prequels or trilogies that sometimes end up as countinious installment in a franchise.
Today I’ll be sharing my favourite franchise of all times while leaving out the science fictions since I’ll be discussing them in another post.
1. THE LORD OF THE RINGS
The Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest adventure ever told. It starts by showing the fate and courage of a young character and his journey to an unknown fate before metamorphosing into the grandest of battles between the armies of good and evil. It’s array of brave heroes, multiple creature & places, and insurmountable villains & obstacles, brings it to my top trilogy ever. I can’t get enough of that preeeeciuuuuuuuse.
2. THE GODFATHER
Perhaps being the best story on organised crime/mafia gets this film on the top of my list. Al Pacino gives one his most legendary performance till date. Money, power, and respect, motivated the story, while love, fear and hate lit the fuse. This beautifully crafted story of the Corleone family and how Michael Corleone journeyed from a proud war vet to becoming the head of the biggest and most feared crime families makes this franchise an offer you can’t refuse.
3. DIE HARD
Bruce Willis plays John McClain a seemingly mostly bashed up but indistructable LAPD cop in this series of witty actions. The fun thing about Die Hard for me is the remarkable blend and balance between comedy and action. The character of John McClain is one of my most favourite and I personally refer to Die Hard as the action evolution of Bruce Willis.
Now up to five installments with the addition of Die Hard with a Vengeance. This is another movie I can’t get enough of…yipikaye mother f**kers’…lol
4. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
I haven’t seen a lot of pirate films but this one surely sets a standard for the ultimate sea adventure. Jack sparrow, probably the most interesting character ever imagine, propels his audience through a world of pillaging and plundering that leaves you spell bound through every installment. The missions, the villains, the characters, the plot, and the ships! Nothing seems to go wrong for me on this exciting rib cracking adventure laden voyage of Jack and his precious pearl.
5. TOY STORY
As far as animations with multiple installments go…some awesome ones have come and gone but perhaps none as memorable as the spectacular Toy Story. A Weird and awesome bunch of toys which include Woody and Buzz Lighter, come together to create this great story around friendship, loyalty, and belief in ones self that doesn’t stop to evoke a rollacoster of fun and laughter every step of the way. It all starts when a kid comes in contact with his new space man, intergalactic super hero toy who actually thinks he is a real space cop and from there the story takes us to infinity and beyond.
6. THE BOURNE IDENTITY
Another action franchise I absolutely can’t resist is Bourne Identity. The ultimate bad ass Jason Bourne played by Matt Damon, struggles to regain his memory and unravel the mystery of his set up and conspiracies within the clandestine world of intelligence organisations he was involved in. The Bourne tale is and will always be one of my favorite action tales.
7. LETHAL WEAPON
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover play a couple of police partners in a world of crime. This movie, like Die Hard, is another beautiful blend between action and comedy that keeps you hanging at the edge of your seat and laughing your lungs out at the same time. The age difference between both characters never stopped to be both a point of reference and an anchor for the humor of the friendship tale between the two
8. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
This is yet another clandestine tale of secret organisation conspiracies and intelligence outfits impossible to get enough of. Tom cruise (Ethan hunt) and his band of merry men engage in their gun slinging, gadget weirding, mask wearing, and voice altering roller coaster of action. Always make me feel nostalgic. A more British and more comical version of the Bourne franchise. Mission Impossible brings together a cool array of characters that always end up making an impossible mission possible.
9. SHREK
In my opinion, a weird version of the princess and the frog tale, Shrek tells a story of a selfish Ogre who set out on a journey to retrieve his Swamp only to get swallowed by love’s embrace . The introduction of Puss in booths played by Antonio Banderas added an explosive touch to the already beautifully created characters.
Every installment of Shrek always maintained the original foundation of a great adventure plot, witty dialogues, (Mark Myers and Eddie Murphy touch) beautiful sword, dragon play, etc, and this is why the movie Shrek would always remain one of my favourite.

1. Huntsmen; Winter’s War (April 22)
If you enjoyed Snow White and the Huntsman, you will definetely have fun with this. Huntsman Winter’s War expands to reveal how the fates of The Huntsman Eric and Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined. As a war between the rival queen sisters Ravenna and Freya escalates, Eric and fellow warrior Sara, members of the Huntsmen army raised to protect Freya and at the same time, try to conceal their forbidden love as they combat Ravenna’s wicked intentions.
Get ready to be thrilled once again by Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and new casts like Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain.
2. Captain America; Civil War (May 5)
This installment of Captain America finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. As a result of an incident, a political pressure to install a system of accountability created a rift which divided the avengers into two camp, one led by Captain America and the other by Iron Man. We all know what happens when two captains want to control a ship? Civil War! This is definitely a must watch!
3. X-Men Apocalypse (May 27)
I saw the trailer of this movie last night, it was MADT! Then guess what? I woke up. May 27 seriously seem so far!
A sequel to 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse is an American superhero film based on the X-Men characters that appear in Marvel Comics. Marvel Fans are really looking forward to this one with the same anticipation that followed the release of Batman Vs Superman. Oh and guess what? A new fan favourite character will be featured in this sequel, although for some annoying reasons that won’t release the character’s name, so I guess we all have to be patient.
4. Suicide Squad (August 5)
Starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, and other well known actors, I’m expecting to see an action and fun packed performance!
Also called Task Force X, Suicide Squad is a team made up of imprisoned supervillains that have been recruited by a secret government agency to execute dangerous black ops missions that no superhero would do, in exchange for clemency. Get ready to be entertained. This movie is definitely a must see.
5. Inferno (October 28)
If you are an avid Fan of Dan Brown like I am, then you’ve probably read Inferno and if the movie is anything like the book then we are in for a treat!
Inferno is an American mystery thriller film based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Dan Brown. The film is the sequel to Angels & Demons, and stars Tom Hanks, reprising his role as Robert Langdon. The film is scheduled to be released on October 28, 2016 in 3D and 2D formats.
