Tomorrow, the country of Nigeria celebrates it’s 55th year of independence and, for the first time, there will be a ball to commemorate the country’s rich history and fashion.
Jessica Chibueze, a Nigerian-American model and philanthropist, has teamed up with Nigerian-American recording artist, Jidenna, to put together the All Things Ankara Ball. This will be a formal event to honor the Nigerian-American community and the goal is to expose and educate the world to the rich culture of the Nigerian Renaissance men and women. The ambassadors, Chibueze and Jidenna, state that this will be a beautiful marriage between French Renaissance and the Nigerian-American aesthetic.
This couture event is set to take place at the University of Maryland-College Park’s Adele H. Stamp Student Union Grand Ballroom on October 17, 2015, from 9p-2a. Dress code: Couture Ankara print is a requirement. This event is open to all who purchase a ticket at http://www.allthingsankara.com/ball.
In the meantime, check out the short film below and get into the fashion!
